The Azorean island of São Miguel is an island in the Atlantic with european charm and spectacular scenery.
Sao Miguel's capital city, Ponta Delgada, on the south side of the island, is truly european, with narrow cobblestone streets, old architecture, and drivers that drive too fast!
The volcanic origin of São Miguel makes the landscape frequently hilly. Most of the streets and buildings are made of volcanic black or white stone.
Even the rough latitude would suppose a rough winter, that is not true. It's warmer than at the corresponding latitude in Europe. There's no need for winter jackets...
The island as many attractions, from the city's cafes to the countryside.
Just to mention a few places to visit, the ones that nobody should miss, I would say: Lagoa das Sete Cidades, Lagoa do Fogo, Furnas Valley, Vila Franca do Campo, Povoação and Nordeste.

It's ok not to have 'Nightlife', especially with the great cook-outs at Las Furnas! Would love to go to Sao Miguel... and get in shape :)
