La Giralda, Sevilla
The tower of the cathedral, the city's landmark, was the minaret of the original moorish temple. In the 16th century it was added the Giraldillo, the symbol of the triumph of the christian faith.
With it's 93 meters allows a great view over the city to everyone that has the courage to climb the 35 steep slopes. But it worths, simply because, from what was once the highest tower in the world, we can feel Sevilla at our feet at least once in our lives.

Cathedral, Sevilla
Rising up on the historical center, next to the jewish quarter (Barrio de Santa Cruz), the magnificent cathedral is the third largest in the world, only surpassed by the St. Peter Basilic, in Rome, and St Paul in London.
The Cathedral is surprising for it's dimensions and for the details sculpted on the stone.
It was built in 1401, in gothic style, where once was an arab temple.
In this building everything is an excess: in the main altar there are more than a thousand figures representing the life of Christ and the impressive organ has 6700 tubes.

Maria Luisa Park, Sevilla
The quiet Maria Luísa Park, the city's lung, is a delicious alternative to the streets that stand right next to it. In these romantic gardens, the light is filtered by the morning fog and the green of hundreds of flowers, plants and trees, some of them century-old.
The major part of the of the grounds of María Luisa park were donated in 1893 to the city of Seville by the Dutchess of Montpensier to be used as a public park.
Later, in 1914, the construction works for the Ibero-American Exposition of 1929 started, which partly took place inside María Luisa park. The new buildings of the Plaza de España were used as the office of the fair. In the park many wonderful buildings can be found.
Address: Maria Luisa Park

Plaza de España, Sevilla
This wonderful looking building, in the Plaza de España, is one of the most photographed sites in the world. And it's very common we have seen it before in a photograph.
Also we could have seen in another kind of scenery. One of the scenes of the movie Star Wars II - The Attack of the Clones was shot between the columns of the palace, and in the movie Plaza de España looks like it's a building from the 34th century.
Also a curious thing is that in front of the building there's a mosaic representing each of the spanish provinces.

Plaza de España, Sevilla
It was made for the "Ibero-American Exposition 1929" and forms a semi-circle around an artificial lake.
Has two towers at it's both extremes and the great ceramic ornaments which represent the provinces of Spain make it one of the most characteristical buildings in Sevilla
