As a tourist center, Brest has little to offer, and few relics of the past remain. Brest was rebuilt after the 2nd World War and is now the biggest town in Finistère.
Brest has a big harbour and the city grew up around it.

There is never much news about Brest, as you say. All I know is that it was/is a major French naval base!
