You really can't even begin to fathom until you see for yourself. We flew into Phoenix, rented a car and flew out of Las Vegas. Drove through Grand Canyon, Bryce, and Zion.
Never have I seen a lake in the desert! It was great fun - nice campground but expensive. Keep driving towards Utah, there will be another state park on the right on the beach. You can camp there too.
I liked our little find so much better! Losee Canyon! quiet, serene - picture purfect. You can take a horseback ride here too.
When going to Zion - camping is limited - best is to make reservation and camp in the park. One of the campsites is first come - it was worth it.
Or - great lodge outside the park. Can't remember the name - up on the hill, big - wooden exterior, pool, taxadermy museum...
