Big is Beautiful

As every tourist spot to see in China involves thousands of square meters, I suggest you get a map of the places that you'd visit so you can focus on what to see. You can also pose with one of those maps behind you.

Summer Palace - 294 hectares
Temple of Heaven - 2, 700,000 sqm.
Tian'anmen Square - 440, 000 sqm
Forbidden City - 74 hectares (largest palace complex in the world)

Consumerism at its Best

The tour buses mandatorily stop at factories of Silk, Cloissone, Pearl , Jade, Tea, and Herbal Medicine. It's nice to know how silk and cloissone are made, distinguish fake from real pearls or jade and learn the benefits of drinking countless tea variations but at the expense of cutting short visits to historical spots, I don't think so.

Ah Chairman Mao must be turning in his grave because I haven't paid my last respects at his memorial hall because our tourist guide said the line is long and we don't have enough time. It turned out, he just wants to bring us to the pearl factory before heading out for lunch.
