Nature trippers will enjoy Davao because of its lush flora and fauna. An alternative to Davao is Palawan, still in Luzon but a plane ride away.

I was a little wary of visiting our Davao offices because of unrest in Mindanao but somebody has to do it. Now, allow me to take it easy and sample pomelo in the 3-tiered clubhouse of Pearl Farm. I'll pass on the durian, thank you. Be good to yourself and have yourself pampered here!

Venture to Calinan (Malagos Garden and Phil Eagle Research - pls. see my related tip) and you'd be lost in a world of crickets, tall trees, orchids, anthuriums, Philippine eagles, birds and butterflies !

I brought home those vibrant red anthuriums and people at the airport kept pinching those flowers, thinking they're made of plastic. Ouch!
