Gold Rush memories

The title is from the lyrics of "Up on Cripple Creek' by the Band.
The town is one main street full of mini-casinos.
It's like a mini-me Las Vegas.
I guess the idea is to get back to the frontier town image. Cripple Creek was a center for gold mining and there still is some gold in 'them thar hills'.

Lots of older buildings still around.

With a little bit of effort, you can imagine this town when it was a bustling gold mining town. Imagine what it must have been like with all that free cash.

Cripple Creek was not a destination per say, more of an intersection.. and the Colorado countryside around Cripple Creek was quite interesting.

Pros and Cons

Pros:still has a flavor of the frontier.. kinda
Cons:taken over by slot machines
In a nutshell:A place to go to gamble or pass through

Thanks of telling us about this place - I read a book about this magic place located 3000m above sea level , keeping all kinds of stange stories of ghosts and phaenomenons.I only wish you took more photos.

That's funny, I was just listening to that song by The Band. Never realized it was about a real place.
