"China 1999" China by frank_delargy

In 1999 I was lucky enough to visit Shanghai & Hong Kong while on a business trip. I took some personal time while I was there to explore both of these wonderful cities.
I met some great people while I was there and managed to get rid of a few stereotypes as well.
I have to say that I did expect to see rickshaws but didn't and was surprised to see how modern the cities were.
Being a 6'2" westerner, I did get a few looks when I walked through areas away from the regular tourist places. I was surprised at how much McDonalds, Kentucky Fried Chicken and Haagen Daaz had established themselves, but that was 5 years ago and I'm sure it's even more so now.
