The island of Mull is a beautiful island barely off the West coast of Scotland. It is the second largest of the Hebridean Islands. You can reach it by a big ferry from Oban or by smaller ferries from points further north. It has a lovely road that goes around it and some wonderful towns, most notably Tobermory, which has very brightly painted houses facing the harbour.
Tobermory has recently become popular due to a British childrens TV show Balamory that features characters and buildings from the town.
It also has a great whiskey distillery which I don't believe is featured in Balamory :-)
Mull is a destination, but it is also a way to get to some other lovely smaller island like Iona, Staffa and the Treshnish islands. Each of these islands is in some way an extension of Mull with their own very unique history and natural history.
- Pros:Wonderful scenery, wonderful town, wonderful islands

Enjoyed your tips about Mull, Staffa & Treshnish. Helpful advice - thanks. Am planning on visiting late Aug but suspect Puffins will have flown the nest by then. Envious of your close encounters with them. Mike
I see you've had a nice stay... Thanks for your story about that remote place worth visiting...><><
Wonderful. Hoping to go in July.
The island of Mull is different from the Mull of Kintyre, which is a part of the Scottish mainland near Campbelltown, not too far (maybe 40 miles) from the Isle of Mull.
Beautiful photos. Is the the same Island of Mull that Paul McCartney sang about in Mull of Kintyre back in the 1970's?
You obviously preferred Staffa :-) I went to Mull when I was about 8, like you say, too young for the whisky :-))
GREAT page, Frank! beautiful pictures! Definitely added to my "Go To" list!!!!
Great start to your Mull page Frank. I loved my stay on this island... but we were in a tent... nothing as posh as a b&b or an hotel! LOL!
