We shall not cease from exploration | WOOHOO.. touching the lava.. finally! |
Just back from 10 days in Peru.. Highlights.. Cuzco, Machu Picchu and the Amazon .. Too busy traveling to write these days. .. OK that is already old news. just back from 2 weeks in Honduras. The mainland was similar to Peru and Costa Rica, but the Bay Islands seemed more Caribbean than Central American. February 2005: Hiking in Scotland, swimming in Iceland, watching the Patriots win in Boston, attending a seminar in Santa Monica, California, and watching lava flow in Hawaii -- All this in less than 1 week! Krazy .. and loving it! The picture above is one of the entry points of the lava into the ocean. We shall not cease from exploration And the end of all our exploring Will be to arrive where we started And know the place for the first time.
T.S. ElliotWhere to start? There are so many people on this site who provide great in-depth analysis of all the places they have been and I have used their experiences to enhance my travels. If I can be half as good as them, then perhaps someone like you will benefit from my efforts. I enjoy traveling and taking pictures, so maybe I can help someone with an 'out of the way' place that isn't covered by a lot of others. I am just starting here .. so lot's of places to add yet.. and lot's of info to fill in. Some of the more useful tips that I have added so far on this site are.. Costa Rica Costa Rica TipsColorado, Utah Monument Valley tips Goosenecks tips Great Sand Dunes tips Vernal tipsIceland Iceland tips Gullfoss tipsMy family lives in the Scottish Highlands, so I have started pages on Fort William , Mull and ScotlandThis isn't my main web site as it is for some; for that you will need to go to http://delargy.com . All of the pictures on my pages were taken by myself or someone with me with exceptions where noted. |

Some nearby places Some of the towns around me are perennial favorites for tourists, especially around the foliage season (Sept-October). I live one town over from Concord, down the road from Lexington and Boston and right close to New Hampshire, Maine and Vermont. I will try to highlight some of these places with tips that would be useful to visitors. Concord tipsMassachusetts |
Root of Motto: Popular song from 1997 They made up their minds and they started packing They left before the sun came up that day, an exit to eternal summer slacking But where were they going without ever knowing the way? They drank up the wine and they got to talking, they now had more important things to say And when the car broke down they started walking Where were they going without ever knowing the way? Anyone could see the road that they walk on is paved in gold And it's always summer, they'll never get cold They'll never get hungry, they'll never get old and gray You can see their shadows wandering off somewhere They won't make it home but they really don't care They wanted the highway, they're happy there today , today The children woke up and they couldn't find 'em They left before the sun came up that day They just drove off and left it all behind 'em But where were they going without ever knowing the way? | California became my new home (for a while) |
A little history Born in Scotland, moved to Canada when I was 2, moved back to Scotland when I was 8, went back to Canada when I was 12, waited a year then went to California, stayed there, more or less, for 13 years then decided to go see the world from the front seat of a Volkswagen bus, then back to Scotland for 3 years before going to Massachusetts to settle down. And of course interspersed with all the places I lived, I also traveled. So you see, moving around was something passed down to me from my parents. |
My partner in travel and adventure This is Jessica, my wife, whom I have known for about 4 years now and who is as eager to jump on a plane and check out a new place as I am.. almost. She is pictured here in front of Gullfoss falls, Iceland. |
Haggis.. We adopted him about a year ago. He was a Dixie dog.. one that was shipped up from Virginia to be adopted in Massachusetts. He fits right in up here. For him there is no time as great as walking time. A dog after my own heart. |
