I was so amazed as to how much there was to see, everywhere we walked there were places of interest. Never any eye sores like some of the other eastern block countries.
You have to see how many churchs there are. You notice them when you are stading at the top of the Czech mini eifel tower!
Old square is where you will be amazed the most. The old clock is where most tourists flock to. It is in two, the top part is time and the bottom is the date. The square itself is from 10th century.
Charles bridge of course is packed! over 700 years old bridge, where you have stunning views and nice to see the painters doing their portraits of people.
Prague castle on northern side of city is the most popular "must see" place. Apparetly the largest ancient castle in world. Built 9th century. I assure you, you need half a day there, so much to see! Also a hike!
Petřin park is worth half a day too, again thats a hike! At the top you will find the mini Eiffel tower which is called Štefánik Observatory. It is 299 stairs to top, no lift! Wonderful views of the city from most parts of the park. There is a mirror maze you can go and visit.
Welceslas Square is another big square in centre, more 19th century, not interesting, you just walk through it on way to historical places. Its mainly shops and cafes. The shops are all the ones you would find in western Europe. |
