"Expanding Andorra" a Andorra la Vella Travel Page by buffalo1975

I have been a frequent visitor to the principality of Andorra for last 25 years. Last time was in 1998. On my recent visit, I was shocked to see how all the towns and in perticular the capital Andorra La Veila had expanded and changed. Everywhere you look you could see giant cranes on building sites. The amount of new buildings to be seen was amazing considering my eight year absence.

What else shocked me was the shops. they seem to of become up market. With all the world wide famous brands on offer all over the place. The prices where not that cheaper than say France. They say its tax free?

Food shopping used to be so cheap, but thats equivalent to French supermarkets. The only cheap items were cigarettes and some alcohol.

It is quite evident how much wealth there is now in Andorra. Just look at most cars, you will see plenty of top range cars being driven. Afterall it is a tax haven.
