1,000 Places to See Before You Die

1,000 Places to See Before You Die

A Traveler's Life List by Patricia Schultz (Paperback - May 22, 2003)

OK, I believe most of us (subconsciously) mistook the title "1000" for "100".
yes, the number itself is daunting at that
not even enough time for us to ponder if there's any chance
ANYONE would have time to go to ALL the places mentioned in the book .

FYI (for your info) I should add that the author herself
did NOT go to all the places but instead
is a "list" gathered from "parties, friends, associates.. etc."

and as an avid traveler who always mixes work(day) with pleasure(night)
and having glanced thru my share of several "..to see before you die" books
here's what differentiates this from the rest :

- 1st off : the NUMBER of locations itself is enormous .

- this isn't a thick hard-cover photo-album,
but instead is a pocket-sized paper-back,
although thicker than a Bible .
..still better to carry around in subways to read 8)

- doesn't stack-up on glitzy-photos to lure you to destinations,
instead uses small, black & white pictures
perhaps so you can SEE the glamour for yourself .

- evidently, this author HAS travel a lot, herself,
because not only does she narrate tons of destinations to SEE,
ample restaurants are included in-between,
I mean, those that are stamped down in deli-history !
(ah-yes, modern traveler needs a set of dig.cameras
but the time-less necessity is FOOD !)

AND THE CONTENT : it is a pleasurable read,
covering all (major) parts of the GLobe
with enough variations from pure nature to silicone hi-tech,
still casuaL enough that I believe a well-travelled reader
would find almost 30 places he/she'd been to ;)

Lonely Planet the Travel Book

A Journey Through Every Country in the World by Roz Hopkins, Janet Austin, and Laetitia Clapton (Paperback - Sep 26, 2005)

ONE major flaw :
/every/ country is set aside TWO full pages .
meaning :
the SAME for a tiny self-run republic
as well as a continent like Australia -_0 duh
