"Surfing UK" Croyde by northeast80

Croyde Travel Guide: 17 reviews and 31 photos

Croyde had been recommended to me by quite a few people, I'd been to the area before but not Croyde.
It is a small village that swells in size in the Summer due to the attraction of the waves to surfers. It also has many pretty thatched cottages, the picture postcard look.
If you're into star gazing the skies here are beautiful with very little light polution.
There are 3 pubs that we saw, and went in two (The Thatch and The Manor), the third (Billy Buds) looked a bit too much like a chain pub for our liking. Ice cream shops, surf hire places and surf schools. The main beach has a toilet and shower block and lovely rock pools to the right edge of the beach where we saw tiny fish, limpets, mussels, sea snails and annenomies and lots of washed up jelly fish. There are also lots of sand dunes to explore too.
There are also nice walks to do, one just at the back of our campsite (I've created a tip for this place).
There is a local market every Tuesday which is well signposted.
This website gives lots of local information;
