"So good I came back" Melbourne by northeast80

My first visit to Melbourne was straight after New Zealand in March 2006.
Well everyone was gearing up for the Commonwealth Games so there was lots of stuff going on. I spent a week in Melbourne, my initial plan was to stop here and find work for a few months but everywhere was putting up their prices for the Games so decided to get out and take a trip along the Great Ocean Road to Adelaide.
And it was roasting, got up to 35 degrees! Phew. But I loved Melbourne, I think it was my favourite city in Australia, all the arcades, markets, different suberbs, coffee culture, all the parks and hidden allys with trendy clubs and bars and shops down. The tackiness of St.Kilda, found a great flea market in Camberwell. The Art Galleries and Museums, the free tram around the centre, just great.
I even enjoyed it when I came back again in the winter (June), but wasn't quite prepared for that, such a change from the last time I was there, dropped by more than 20 degrees! But that only meant you had to sit inside the coffee shops and go in more arcades. Aaah so is life.
I stayed about two weeks this time as I was planning on escaping the weather and going to Singapore but that didn't happen as there wasn't enough time on my passport to do so. So took a marathon journey from Melbourne to Hull (England) in one go.
