"Not out by a long shot" New Orleans by olddude
New Orleans Travel Guide: 4,161 reviews and 7,176 photos
I just returned from New Orleans and just have to see that things seem to be looking up. It had been more than 20 years since I was last there, but after seeing images from Katrina in certain areas of the city, I wondered how "dead" it might be. Well, not only is it not dead, but has quite the rapid pulse. This city is quite resilient and the rebuilding continues. Where I was staying, near the French Quarter, you could hardly tell that anything had happened at all. The streets were full of tourists and the famous street cars were running constantly. The people were great and the food awesome. Even the prices are still low. No one is trying to get rich quick by gouging tourists. It is still the laid back "Big Easy" that I remembered from years past.

Hi, stayed there this year as well. Great jacuzzi, but the rest was not great. I agree with you 'could do better'. All the best!
If you come to London, let me know. We have good Hiltons and we have bad Hiltons. Very bad.
LMAO!! Let's see...in the past 3 months they have deleted all of my points, did not give me the room I reserved, and then most of the items (hot water, TV, A/C) did not work properly. Was awakened by an FBI raid (not their fault) and was given no apology for my trouble...both in person and via mail. I received no response and have been a Hilton member for about 8 years. As far as chains go, I will be using the Marriott from now on when on a budget. I will probably do the Radisson when I want to splurge.
Al. New Orleans is a place near and dear to my heart. I spent 4 years there:) Barbequed shrimp at Pascale Manales, Carnival, The Jazz Fest, of course things have changed some (back then we were the Aints, for example)but a place that celebrates the good things in life:) Regards from down the road.Val
