Ancient Thebes!! Finally we landed in Luxor at around 3pm plus in the afternoon. Phew, the airport was very very overwhelming and crowded.
Luxor lies 675 km south of Cairo and it has a population of 100,000 and there are more than 2000 tourists flying in a day to visit the magnificent monuments.
Thus you would be greeted by a lot of cruise ships that are docking along the Luxor River Banks...it's quite a pretty view. |

| | On the east bank, you would find the Temple of Luxor and the Temple of Amun-Re at Karnak. The famous Valley of the Kings and Valley of the Queens are located are the west bank. One can imagine the splendour of this ancient city which was unrivalled in the history of Egypt for 4 centuries.
The photo by the side was taken at Queen Hatshepsut's Temple, whose records were erased by her sucessor and It's carved out of the mountains and it was built in terraces. |
