The Sunrise | Sunrise At Mount Sinai, Egypt |
As i stood on top of Mount Sinai, with the bursting rays of sunlight emerging from the horizon, it hit me that The Journey is significant to me. The process of the climb was awesome.... Our group woke up at 1am and started the climb at 1.45am. I would call it the Long March. I am not afraid to admit that i'm not a sporty gal. I have never ever breathe so deeply and rapidly in my entire life!!! My heart was beating like a panicked butterfly and it was so loud. I'm sure i heard echos of my heartbeat in the mountains. I thought my lungs would explode and i would just died in this holy mountain. But ....I didn't....i made it. I couldn't have done it with support from my soul mate, my other half. We stood by each other as we caught the wonders of this amazing sunrise from the mountain where it is believed that Moses received the Ten Commandments from God.
It's the begining of a new day...and the beginning of a long long way down.... |

| | Egypt 08.11.2004 - 18.11.2004 My recent trip to Egypt has set me thinking, thinking and thinking. The journey has been filled with great anticipation, awe, wonders, veneration, sadness and lots of questions....
As i stood gazing at the mummies of the once-grand Pharaohs, i wondered have they themselves ever thought that this day would happen...that their mummies would be seen and admired by thousands and thousands of visitors. These Pharaohs, who once basked in the glory of their power, built magnificent templs and grand statues ....With the key of life, have they achieved afterlife? |
The Year 2004 A lot of things happened in 2004......first time giving out Chinese New Year Ang Bow (Red Packets) as a married couple, the mourning of a beloved uncle who died suddenly, the tears at the first death anniversary of my granny (paternal), joy of hugging my grandmother (maternal) at her 85th birthday in Malaysia, running into the gas vouchers taxi driver in bangkok!!! the first wedding anniversary kiss in late august, the angelic face of my niece, who's born recently in October, my long-awaited Egypt trip, the new friends i made in Egypt and of course in VT!!!
Ho Ho Ho What a year! Ups & Downs but definitely no regrets!! For the coming December, I am looking forward to my parents' 29th wedding anniversary and Xmas!!! | | |
More about Me!! Born in KK Hospital in 1976, i have a younger brother who's born on April's Fool Day. We fought, argued and clawed (yes!!) each other when we were young. Back then, he was such a pain in the *** and i was his tormentor!!!
But of course all these are in the past now, gone with the wind!! hmmm, maybe it's bcos we don't live under the same roof anyway!! ha ha. Nay, we are pretty close and we still share our problems with each other. He's 2 years younger than me and an aspiring Chef-to-be. I totally believe in him. To our family, he's already our number 1 Chef in the world.
I live very near to my parent's and in laws' place. We are in a a little corner of Singapore, Hougang. My parents lives like, 4 bus stops away. Very convenient. i'm back there so often that my mum's neighbour often wonder whether i have ever moved out. =P
Oh well, being a typical Singaporean, I love to eat!!!! From the scallop pies in tassie, roasted peking duck in beijing, meat kepabs along streets of Bangkok, charcoal-grilled mutton in Xinjiang, my favourite Claypot FrogLeg porridge in Geylang to my mum's homecooked braised pork ribs....i eat anything and everything...except extreme gourmet. My worst experience - I almost fainted when i was served Camel's Paw at Dun Huang. I simply cannot stomach the sight of it. It was cruel and horrible. I was riding camels happily along the desert and how could i eat their paws for dinner?????? No way!!!
And although i'm a Singaporean, i'm not really a big fan of chilli..spicy food....I have admit, i will have to gulp down gallons of water to finish that curry or mee siam. I'm more of a Ketchup Fan!!! =), esp with fries!
Besides indulging in gastronomic trips, I lurve travelling of course...If you click on my wish list, you would see a lot of countries there. I am thinking of either Japan or Vietnam next year. But i just met up with my friend who came back from NZ and i was bowled over by the pixs of this Middle Earth......so where did i say i was going for next year?
Yes, i'm a very fickle-minded woman! This is a very big flaw in me. I take a very very long time to make up my mind. This drives my other half up the wall! Even for breakfast, i would go.."hmm, omelette or bagels?"...or "Roti Prata"...but at the end, i would still stick back to Fried Carrot Cake with black sauce!! I know, it's too greasy but hey, i like it. =)
Like any women, i love shopping!!! Love Love Love SHOPPING!!! But i prefer browsing around in bazaars rather than shopping malls. But yet I lurve to try on shoes and evening gowns. "Shop til you drop" is my motto....or is it " I will not stop til my husband drop"??....oops, have i said too much???
Music-wise, i like to stick to movies soundtracks, prince of egypt, lord of the ring, dances with wolves, bridget jones' diary, sex and the city, pretty woman...etc etc etc.
I like watching movies, i just caught Shark Tales, not bad. But then i'm a fan of Will Smith since Prince of Bellair. A lot of people have been telling me to go catch "The Incredibles"...i'm still thinking...=)
Okie dokie, that's about it, i will update as and when possible!
Thanks for running through my homepage. =) |
