"SANCTUARIO DE TORRECIUDAD" El Grado by roeldc

This Marian Sanctuary in the province of Huesca, was opened for worship in 1975. It was built beside a hermitage, which, since the eleventh century housed a Romanesque carving of Our Lady of Torreciudad. Built with the spiritual impulse of the founder of Opus Dei, the sanctuary was made possible by the generous help of thousands of people from all over the world. Torreciudad, a centre for international pilgrimage set in a landscape of singular strength and beauty, is a lace of prayer and penitence. The Temple is the work of the architect Heliodoro Dols, who lives in Zaragoza and the altarpiece by the artist Juan Mayne who was inspired by the altar-monstrances of Aragon.
