I visited the Anne Frank House while I was in Amsterdam. How could I not visit it? It was one of the most interesting museums I've been in, and certainly one of the most educational. The stories, the letters, the videos, each and every piece touched my heart and brough tears to my eyes. This is a place to reflect on life. A place to reflect on the beauty of the human spirit to survive despite the oppression and difficult circumstances around. Anne Frank was a courageous little girl, and her death in the end is a tragic tale. My visit taught me about the holocaust, and about the things that happened in WWII that no one wants to remember, and yet no one can forget. Make this a part of your journey through Amsterdam. Its worth every penny, and every second you spend there.

Do you like Van Gogh? Do you like art? Do you like impressionism? Do you like culture? Yet another must see place to visit in Amsterdam. I am a Van Gogh fan. I love his Sunflowers, it is my favorite print. I love his style, his use of color, his interesting brush strokes. I love how the weird, insane, madman comes out in some of his works, and then you see the beauty, the light, the magic he creates on canvas in other pieces. A couple hours to stroll through this museum is limiting, but sufficient. If you have more time, spend more time. It was crowded, there were tons of people when we went on a Saturday, but it was worth the time and the money.

Agraichen Wed Sep 15, 2004 21:56 UTC Wonderful page on Amsterdam. You took me right back to my visit in 1970. I've always intended to return but the last two attempts have missed. On my suggestion my daughter visited last year and shares your opinion of the city. | pieter_jan_v Wed Aug 18, 2004 12:58 UTC Nice intro page. Do come back. On the moment I'm amazed by the Maltasian doors. PJ |
