Portobello Market Portobello Road, W11 Fri/Sat 9am-5pm; Mon-Wed general market open same hours; Thurs 9am-1pm Underground: Notting Hill Gate or Ladbroke Grove Well, first thing's first. You MUST, of course, head to this mile-long street market. As practically everything else in Notting Hill, it is achingly hip. Come here to buy your choice of antiques (Westbourne Grove end), arts and crafts, fruit and veg (round about the crossroads with Westbourne Park Road), second-hand clothes and jewellery (under Westway), bric a brac and even organic food. Friday may be the best day to go; Saturdays are very, very busy. Not really the sort of market where you might find an amazing bargain, but definitely worth a visit. And, after all, it is featured countless times in the film. Tip : Nearest Tube - Notting Hill Gate

Probably the most famous of all London's shopping districts Oxford Street has one of the highest concentrations of large shops in the world. More than 300 shops sell thousands of lines of goods from inexpensive gifts to haute couture. Tip : Nearest Tube - Oxford Circus ** Be aware of your surroundings. Oxford Street is a perfectly safe area but does get very busy all year round. Opportunist pick pockets operate in this area even though Police surveillance is present.
