Port Charlotte/Punta Gorda

I am very sad to hear of the devastation that has come upon two of my favourite places. I have yet to be able to find out if my very close friends condo made it through or not. The hotel that I loved to stay in..(the Holiday Inn Express on Sandhill) may no longer be there. I am hoping so much, that it is. I am scheduled to go back in December to continue with my lighthouse trip. I hope all is well. Just can't get through yet.

Pros and Cons

Pros:It is quaint and so very unhurried. It has the cutest little mall to stroll through
Cons:I suppose Hurricane Charley is big CON
In a nutshell:I loved Port Charlotte/Punta Gorda area, and am devastated that there is so much damage there. Hope all is well.

What is the latest on the condition of Punta Gorda? The police truck caught my attention, as I work for a police dept. as a transcriptionist. I also responded to your info on Sanibel a few days ago. I love that place!
