"BAILE HERCULANE - a beautiful mountain spa" Baile Herculane by violeta13

Baile Herculane Travel Guide: 10 reviews and 38 photos

Ancient spa dating back to the time of the Romans, favourite tourist destination of the Roman aristocracy, the Baths of Hercules ("Baile Herculane"), part of the Valea Cernei-Domogled National Park, is an unique combination of early 19th century architecture, most of the buldings being cultural monuments, breath-taking mountain landscapes and all kind of mineral springs.

I sincerlly hope that the beautiful buildings will be saved from degradation and the spa will regain its right place as a touristic atraction.

Pros and Cons
  • Pros:Climate, landscapes, mineral springs, caves, mountain trips
  • Cons:Poor conservation of 200 year old cultural monuments
  • In a nutshell:Baths of Hercules - an ancient pearl in the Carpathians.
