Next door to, and within sight of the Beacons.

Monmouthshire, my county is " next door" to the ancient county of Breconshire and the National Park boundary is just a few miles up the road.
So it is a place that we either visit or travel through very often and forecast the weather every morning by how the Beacons are looking.

It is an area of great natural beauty, one of the three National Parks in Wales - the others are the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park in west wales and Snowdonia in north Wales.

The County Town, Brecon is an attractive market town. It has many claims to fame - the annual summer Jazz Festival and the Hay on Wye Literary Festival; home of the South Wales Borderers (of Zulu fame) ; the Cathedral; the theatre alongside the Brecon and Monmouth canal and much more.
