"The real Mallorca" Majorca Island by ranger49

Many years ago I booked a winter trip to Malta for my mother and me that was cancelled by the tour company a few days before we were due to depart.
Mum was in very poor health and had been looking forward so much to the holiday she was convinced would be her last.. So when my friend, the manager of the Travel Agency offered a last minute alternative, 2 weeks at a 4* hotel, in what she assured me was a "lovely little fishing village in Ma,lorca" I took it.

Even my Mum was a bit apprehensive. It was then 1982 and few people had not heard about the reputation of Mallorca.
It was a cheap sun, sand and sex destination, the birthplace of the lager lout and Kiss me Quick, images that for so long besmiched the Island's reputation.

But on that first visit all those images were demolished. Mum enjoyed it so much she booked a return visit for the two of us the following April. It seemed to give her a new lease of life.

It took nearly 15 years for me to persuade John that it would be a good place for our annual September holiday with my brother and his wife.
After much research (still before our Internet days) we decided on a large old finca style house with a pool and an annexe in the grounds. just outside the old town of Pollenca.
