When we first visited the Quineville Museum several years ago, although housed in a smart new building its collection was small.
Over the last few years it has been become one of the most fascinating presentations of what life was like for the civilian population in France during the years from 1940 - 1945.
The museum possesses an impressive collection of memorabilia from those years - Official Documents and Posters, contemporary newspapers and magazines; letters and postcards, clothing, childrens' toys and books.
It differs from most of the other museums in the area because although it shows very vividlly how hard life was for the people who lived under the Occupation its emphasis is on freedom and there are few weapons to be seen there.
But what most impressed our grandchildren was the reconstructed Village Street complete with shops, homes and offices, with members of both the French civilian inhabitants and the occupying forces.
They asked questions like "Why didn't they put the lights on?"; "Is that all they got to eat"; " What is that thing on on their faces (gasmasks)?"
