Australian War Memorial: History Lover

  • A place provide u with fantastic details of the World War one, World War two, and etc. Be sure to take of your hat or cap if u are entering the hall of honour. (this is to respect those military army that lost their lives during WWI)... Free tour guide is provided every hour and in fact, anytime and the tour last for about an hour. however, for you to view all the history and the all the display, it might takes more than 3 hours.!!!

    Free entrance. however, if u want to, u can provide donation at the donation box upon entering.

    Directions: Catch the bus 33 from platform 7 (for those in the bus interchange) or u can easily walk there. it is within 30 min walk. ask anyone in the street, they can easily direct u there.

    Cockington Green: Cockington Green - Cute miniature Great Britain

  • If u are in Canberra, be sure to visit Cockington Green garden in Gold Creek Village (abt 11.6kms from the City centre). The place is filled with miniature Great Britain building. Nice view. Be sure to bring more films with u and for those digital camera user, fantastic place to shot to your heart content !!!!!

    Parks /Gardens / Lakes: Almost Heaven.....

  • If u are in Canberra during spring time (sept - Oct), be sure to take a leisure walk around the floriade at Commonwealth Park).The Floriade is the flower extravaganza in Canberra that last for about a month (30 days) starting from middle of Sept to Oct. The place is like heaven to view....Warning!!! for those who use normal, film camera, be sure to bring lots and lots of films with u cos u might lost track of the photos u take there...**wink**

  • A place where u can learn how parliament work last time. There will be a free guide tour everday. the tour last about an hour.

    New Parliament House: New Parliament House

  • Entrance to NPH is free. However, before u enter, there will be a security check similar to those in the airport. Nice place to look around. Oh... there will be a public tour which will last about 45min.

    public tours start at 9am and follow by every 30 minutes.

    Science and Technology: in for the SURPRISE !!!!

  • If u are interested in the Science and Technology or rather u want to pump in more knowledge to your children on Sci n Tech, then Questacon is the place for u !!! Questacon featured a lot of sci and technology things that u will never be able to see in daily life. Things such as the light harp, the earthquake experience and etc.

    The entrace fee is AUD$14 (adult) and if u are a student, u will have concession price at AUD$9.50.

    open from 9 - 5pm daily (closed during xmas)

    It is sandwiched between the National library and the High court of Aust. on the opposite of the road, u will be able to see Old Parliament house and New parliament house. so if u happen to go to OPH or NPH, do make a visit to Questacon, high court and also National gallery !!!

    Government Buildings: Mint your own AUD$1.00

  • If u want to learn how the coins are make in Australia, do make sure u drop by the Royal Australia Mint. The mint provides u with abundant information on the history of australian coins and the process of coin making. Special highlight is that u can mint your own AUD$1.00. It is machine operated which require u to slot in AUD$2.50 in order to mint your own AUD$1.00. WARNING!!! the process is very fast, the next thing u know, your own AUD$1.00 coin has been made... hahaha.. but it is a great souvenir.
    Over here, u can even get some of those uncirculated coins and also those halogram coins. However, it is very very expensive!!! (sad)....:(

  • If u happen to be leisurely walking around the commonwealth park , do visit the Captain Cook Memorial Jet at regatta point which is about 5 mins walk from the Floriade in Commonwealth Park. There will be shooting of water high to the sky from 10am - 12pm and from 2pm - 4pm.

    Directions: just follow the direction of the water jet cos it is shoots really high to the sky. Or else, look for the National Capital Exhibition. u can see clearly from there.

  • IF u are in Commonwealth Park, do make a visit to the National Capital Exhibition at regatta point, Commonwealth Park. The exhibition there tells u a detail information on Canberra.
    Inside the NCE, u will see a spectacular view of Lake Burley Griffin and also the Capt. Cook Memorial Jet.
