I've been living in Kure for 6 months. It's a comparatively small town with suprisingly a lot of people. The main shopping mall is called "Renga-dori," which means "Brick Road." The road is actually brick and it's under a high arcade roof. About a 10-15 minute walk from the station.
Kure is famous for its shipyard and a lot of foreigners come here to build ships.
