Otok Pag

by BarbaraForza - last update: Aug 10, 2004

Pag
A car ferry from Prizna will bring you to Pag in only 15 minutes. At first you will see a rocky and apparently monotonous place, but once you're on the island and you drive few kilometres on, you'll see what is Pag.
The whole island is 285 km and have more or less 12 inhabited centres.
Pag is not only the name of the island but one of the main centres as well. Pag and Novalja are the main centres and offers almost everything you might need. Pag is more traditional and quiet whereas Novalja is the most tourist oriented.

A crowdy beach!

This is one of the beaches you can find in Pag (the island).
Going from Pag town to Novalja (there is only one main road so you can't miss it) turn left to Lukar and go down towards the sea following a white road. If you have a brand new car choose another beach! Once you're down you'll find a sort of building offering an access to the sea...go straight on the white road and you'll find this beach and many others, some of them can be seen from the road, some of them can't, you must follow little paths on foot to reach the sea (like the one in the picture).

As you can see it is very crowdy...considering it was July, I think it is almost incredible to have such a beach just for you!
Beaches here are made of little stones, very few of them of sand.

Pros:"You can have the holiday you prefer, in crowdy beaches among tourists from everywhere, or in a very quiet bay sharing the sun and the sea with seagulls ony!"
Cons:"Still to look for it...if any!"
In A Nutshell:"Not a green island, but worth to be seen!"
