I was born in this windy-swept town. YES windy-swept!!! When it's very windy, don't relay that you can turn around a corner and get rid of the wind - you just have it from another angel and maybe stronger... At least it is fresh sea air :) Before when I told I was from Bodø, people used to say "So you will fell over if theres no wind?".
At the photo it's VERY WINDY and rainy. It was 25'th of september and I had to take Hurtigruta "Finnmarken" to Stamsund. The evening before I had tried to take the ferry to Moskenes, but it had to return half way over the fjord due to very bad weather. Maybe that's why the ambulance is at the quay? Collecting very seasick people... No I don't think so. They'r probably just having a nice cup of coffee inside Hurtigruta as the rest of us in Bodø use to do.
Btw - the litle train in front of me takes tourists around Bodø (I think it still runs). You can also hire it. Some days earlier my dad had hired it. Came home to us, picked up 50+ people and drowe us to where the party was. Also came at night driving us home.
Wanna have a look how it looks like in the harbour in Bodø today?
The lokal newspaper Avisa Nordland have webcamera placed towards the down town harbour. This part of the harbour is where all the small boats are located.
In the front you can see the boats selling FRESH SCHRIMPS - Try them!!!! Yes I grew up in this town, but hardly tasted better schrimps another place!
In the back of the photo you see the Molo (stone pier?). Have a walk out there (maybe bring your shrimps, piece of loaf, mayonaise and lemon with you). If you go there at 1250 and 1500 you can almost "touch" Hurtigruta (the Costal Steamer) when it arrives at 1300 and departs at 1500.
- Pros:Fresh prawns in the habour.
- In a nutshell:Sea, mountains, nature at your doorstep

Ruffen this isall fascinatig.I'm thinking of going to Norway this summer. I would reallly love to as it looks just stunning but I'm wondering if it's as expensive as I've heard :))
Hi there! Thanks for stopping by. We didnt make it to Bodö the road was to narrow, curvy and steep. We didnt have enough time:( Else I love those roads. Ours is just trees, trees, trees and more trees.:)
Looks just like my home town of Oldham (it never seems to stop raining) Hoping to visit Tromso this year. Carl
Hi Ruffen, I'll admit it doesn't look very appetizing, but any location looks poorly in the rain. Pa
Looks familiar the wind and the rain ;-) Hei fra Bodø!!
