I had always taken for granted ~ Singapore as the place to shop, shop, shop (mostly electronic items) BUT there is more to it. And after so many visits to Singapore.... I only have a paltry number of photos.
Just a bit of history
The symbol of Singapore, the Merlion statue (have to look for another picture as the above photo is "borrowed" for the moment). What does it symbolises? In the first place its a half fish / half lion creature. Historically (mythically) in the 14th century, some dude (called him a prince) sighted a lion while his ship was landing on Singapore island. It was then the island was named Singapura, from the Sanskrit words "Singa" (Lion) and "Pura" (City).
But now its... the Shopping City of Electronics for me! |

y_lyn Wed Oct 25, 2006 08:24 UTC I am not into clubbing...if you ask me abt nightlife, i can recommend you to go East Coast Food Centre for dinner, after that you can even try out or simply watch pple playing with cable-ski which is very nearby. |
