(I did this in 2000 ~ under the Riverbug , this company is now under the name of
Traverse Tours)
We started from the hotel lobby ~ being picked up in a airconditioned coach and drove on a 1.5 hours drive the Beaufort Railway Station.
We boarded the train about 10am
We passed Rayoh Train Station on the way to Pangi Station.
Rayoh Station is the ending point of the Rafting adventure. Here we dropped off all non-essentials (our change of clothes, stuff and snacks) . This was done in the space of 5 mins as the train was on its way up to pangi Station
We reached Pangi Station about 12 which was the starting point of the rafting.
We had
~ A light snack
~ a briefing by the head honcho rafter on safety
~ to contain our excitement before being
~ forced to carry the raft down to the riverbank
We started rafting and
~ it took about 1 to 2 hours to raft down the river
~ ended at the Rayoh Train Station.
We then had
~ a BBQ lunch
~ boarded the train back to Beaufort.
~ transfer back to Kota Kinabalu by late evening.
If you are a absolute beginner and want to have a relaxing trip down river you can try the
Kiulu R-RaftingBooking of TourOnly book it when you are in Kota Kinabalu.
If you pre-book from outside Sabah (be it internet or phone) you may be quoted the standard prices on the net. (but you get a confirmed seat on the day you want )
If you book when you are in Kota Kinabalu, you prob be able to get a discount (but no guarantees of a spot on the day you want to raft)
Don't forget to
Chill Out later
