Beirut

beirut-arial view
Beirut has beautifully risen from the aftermath of war- it's people are artistic, and its evident in the lovely infrastructure tat emerged

the war left a kind of interesting feel to being there, as you can easily note bombed houses, and houses scarred with bullet holes..a few times if you look carefully you'll even see remains of blood stains.
Beirut, in semetic, means "Well"... and thats exactly the attitude you'll find in it's locals - They have the happy go lucky yet passionate only few nations possess
Every person is a politician, and eveyrone speaks politics there

During my visit there, A lebanese Arab Superstar contestant (American Idol show franchise) lost to two contestants from neighbouring nationalities.. People marched in the streets protesting, and women wailed..they were certain it was all political and deliberate.
Musuem Square
Martyrs Monument
There's a beautiful contrast in every bit of beirut

Sunni mosques, Shiite mosques, Synanogyes, Churches, Suffi prayer rooms, Druze spots

War destroyed houses right next to newly built french villas

Sea 5 minute drive from the Mountains

The vieled and the open

and it's all beautifully celebrated naturally.

And by the way- it's not as expensive as I was told - It's somewhat similar expenses to going to London
Mainly, accommodation in Beirut is the expensive part..while shopping and eating out varies within all ranges depending on your preference.

Many people rent houses (4 bedrooms) in the Mountains when visiting lebanon, you can get these for around US$100 per nite, and the pleasure of a lovely lebanese family company.

Pros:"lovely architechture, fab shopping for you women out there"

In A Nutshell:"Go!"

Most restaurants and sandwich places have menus with prices. Just check them before ordering and you will be fine.

Interesting tips. I've heard about the university, but never knew they had a private beach for the students. That Jeita Grotto sounds fantastic.
