Gauteng, once part of the Transvaal, the Transvaal has since been divided into smaller provinces, an Afrikaaner stronghold, this was the place where diamonds and gold were discovered and subsequently put the place on the map.
Johannesburg would be the name most people would hear if talking about South Africa, Cecil John Rhodes started up his business empire here and caused the start of South Africa's most famous war, the Boer war.
