Done and dusted

Belize flag
Well, Belize was certainly diffirent, not that I had any expectations, but it was an eye-opener.

It is a fantastic country, but it does have downsides to it as well.
I intend to update this page as much as possible and to give as much information on places and prices, as the rough guide book I used was very out of date.

So keep coming back for further information and pictures.

Caye Caulker

Caye Caulker is a paradise Island, as we arrived there by boat we were welcomed with "welcome to paradise" it made a good start to our caye Caulker experience, the island is heavily populated and will one day be over-populated but till then it will remain a paradise.

Bars and cafe's, street vendors and excursion shops line the streets of Caye Caulker well there are only about two main streets, one of them being the main one. Take a walk to the "split" so called after a hurricane split the island in two, and enjoy the night views of stingrays and other fish as they swim through the split.

Mayan ruins

Belize is famed for it's Mayan culture, it has to offer some of the best excavated Mayan temples and cities within Central America.

Caracol is one of the major ones that the government is promoting heavily, there is a new road being built at this time, but as of yet it is unfinished and well over half the journey to Caracol is unpaved and sometimes dangerous especially in wet weather.

I enjoyed your thoughts and photos of your Belize experience! That canoe trip down the Macal River sounds like paradise! This is definitely a country with a lot of tourism potential!
