Take the cable way up, but walk down if you are fit enough, (or the other way round) the views for the top are amazing, but there are even more spectacular ones along the pathway up and down the gorge. You go behind waterfalls, pass streams and see wildlife you dont see at the top. Take water, a hat and pleanty of sun protection if you do, you legs will hate you for it the next day, but it is worth it!

Take a trip to Cape Point You can hire a car and take it at your own pace or book one of hte many organised tours. We took one of these. We drove to Hout Bay first where we got a bargain mahogany carved Hippo for £4! (£80 in the V & A Waterfront shops) went out to seal island here and then drove onto cape point. You can take a tram up to the top and then walk the last bit up some steps this takes you to the old lighthouse which now isnt working. Once you are here the views are great, but if you are brave you can walk along another path along the side of the mountain to the new lighthouse which really is the edge of Africa! we did this and it was a sight to see. You will come accross Ostrich, and baboons, do notfed them as they are dangerous.

Camps Bay beach is gorgeous, white powdery sand with a turquoise sea, when we were there it was windy, so it was cold, but hte sun and clear blue sky made it look like heaven. We took the Cape Explorer bus there and hopped off for a couple of hours, ate and got back on. Gorgeous!

The Nelson Mandela gateway boat takes you to Robben Island. When you arrive there you are put on buses that take you on a tour of the island, (you are not allowed off it) then you are taken around the maximum security prison where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for 18 years. We were taken around by a former political prisoner. His stories are harrowing and interesting at the same time. They have a penguin colony of 40,000 penguins, however you get a better view of these at Boulders Beach. This was a true eye-opener.

This is a great day out, Matthew had arranged to dive with the ragged tooth sharks in the predator exhibit, and it was fantastic, I was sceptical as to whether the Two Oceans Aquarium would hold my attention for that long, but it did. We saw feeding of sharks and fish in the Kelp forrest, we also had a behind hte scenes tour of how the aquarium is run. They only feed the shark on a Sunday at 3.30pm if you want to catch this!

The waterfront is new and bustling. From here you can get boats to robben island, ssunset cruises, sailing boats of any kind of trip invloving water! It is safe 24 hours a day but the only bad point is that it is catered to tourists only and therefore everything is overpriced! The restaurants are good value for an englishman though! there are a lot of street performers and a small amphitheatre. it sems to be the centre of everything for tourism, we went there virtually every day!

We briefly stopped at Hermanus on the way back form Shark diving, and saw somw whales. There are trips to properly watch them but be aware you are not allowed closer than 30 meters from them. I heard it is a good trip but we didnt have time, i only got this picture of a whale tail coming out of the ocean! I was lucky! (if you cant see it I can email it as it doesnt come out well small!)
