Memoirs of the first visit to the city
I have travelled a lot in Gujarat, being my native place as I belong to a Gujarathi family.
Located in the heart of Gujarat, the fascinating town of Rajkot was the capital of the princely state of Saurashtra. It was also reputed as a former British government headquarters where Mahatma Gandhi spent early years of his life. A peaceful town some 30-35 years back on the riverbank of Aji, today Rajkot is known as the "Paris of Saurashtra".
I had only one night stay over here, places of interest are Watson Museum and Library, Kaba Gandhi No Delo, and a couple of old schools and colleges of the city.
Pros and Cons
- Pros:Royal city, friendly people
- Cons:Haphazard development, people seem to have forgotten the historical value for such a lovely city.
- In a nutshell:One of the many lovely cities in India which needs attention
