Scotland Bonnie Scotland

Beauty all over!

Loch Ness
I travelled up to Scotland by bus and the closer we got the heavier the rain. But it was nothing compared to the scenery and the fact that I was there! I even asked the bus driver to tell me when we were about to cross the border so I could feel the magic!
It was a sentimental journey for me. My late Father was born in Scotland and there has always been this part of me wanting to go back.
I have many wonderful memories now but would have liked to see much more. The weather was good to me too. It only rained 3 times!
I had heard stories of blizzards and snow even in May but none of that even looked like happening. And when the sun did shine...what a spectacular place it was!
Highlands

Country of contrasts...from the highlands...

Scotland seemed to me to be a country full of contrasts. From the bleak and wild hills of the highlands to the green fields and forests of Perthshire. And lots of variations of that in between. It was all beautiful in it's own way and there is something there for everyone.

to the fertile valleys.

To really experience Scotland you can either see a bit of everything or do what I did. A small tour [which really only touched the surface] and a quiet 3 day stopover in a typical village. I chose Pitlochry. And it really was what Scotland is all about. I had the village itself to get amongst and forests and fertile farmland to explore.
By taking my time and mingling with the locals I really got to " feel " Scotland.
My following pages I hope will give you an idea of what 'God's own country' is all about.

Pros:"A magical place. Beauty all over. Something for everyone."
Cons:"A long way north and the weather can be tricky!"
In A Nutshell:"Definetely a place I will return to."
