Skye

View from Skye
Skye is one of the largest of Scotland's islands and is situated off the north west coast. A meer hop skip and a jump from the mainland, it is about 50 kilometres from north to south and has a population of around 14,000 people.
Typical farming countryside

A sunny day trip to Skye

I spent just one day here on a tour bus. Touring has it's advantages...we travelled a lot of kilometres and saw many sights that day...but it is restricting. So many times I would have liked to stop for photos or for a look around but had to make do with a quick look through the windows instead.
Wild bleak hills and windy roads

The landscape.

The landscape varied from remote bleak hills to green countryside. The beaches had that wild swept look and some parts of the coastlines were straight out of a picture book. Lots of windy roads, hills and lochs.

Pros:"Easily accessed from the mainland. A stark and wild beauty. Peaceful existence."
Cons:"Can be wet and windy."
In A Nutshell:"A good place to experience a taste of true Scottish island life."

I’ve never seen rocks dangling from a roof before. Very inventive.
