The Trevi Fountain

Roma Caput Mundi

The Romans used to say their city was the Capital of the World, and 2000 years ago they sure made a good point. Time changes many things but the beauty of this city, its every corner an architectural delight always on the verge of a traffic jam, lets your mind wander.

The movies have indeed helped to recreate a bit of the magic and grandeur that once was Rome. Still don't be disappointed if the bald, middle aged gladiator who hangs around the Colosseum does not resemble too closely Russel Crowe!

Do try to enjoy yourself and stray off a little from the beaten path, if one were so inclined to visit all of Rome's monuments and museums on the trip, I would suggest to clear their schedule for the following 6 months ... just make sure you don't miss the Trevi fountain (possibly at 4.00 am when all the rose sellers, pickpockets and hordes of tourists are already in bed) and who knows ... you just may be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of a beautiful Swedish girl inviting you to join her into the water, don't mind her if she keeps referring to you as Marcello).

Pros:"the sunsets, the history, the ice cream"
Cons:"the traffic, the widespread lack of civic duty"

Liked your information on Rome. I come each January partly for work and partly for pleasure. Definitely am interested in the restaurant and wine bar you mentioned. Blessings, Fr. Terry
