The Castle The castle of the Chapter of Warmia, now a regional museum, is the most interesting place in the Old Section of town built during 14th c. for sone time was a place where Nicholas Copernicus lived and worked and where you can see some of his works even now (astronomical table he used to determine the date of equinox on the gallery wall). The tower offers a nice panorama. The museum offers numerous exhibitions and special events. You can also mint your own coin there. |
The Old Town The Old Town was surrounded by walls with three gates, of which one, the High Gate is still preserved. The Old Town is full of nice pubs, bars and restaurants as well as many small shops. During the summer it offers numerous cultural attractions, concerts and events. |
Copernicus Memorial Nicholas Copernicus worked in Olsztyn as the administrator of the area residing in the castle where he also worked on the reform of calendar, astronomer, economist and doctor. A photo with his fugure can be a nice one in your travel album. |
