Bigger, better, greener than SG - 14092004

Heart of Malaysia

On the tarmac, our first ever budget flight
I've passed by Kuala Lumpur numerous times, on the way to Penang, to Genting Highlands, to Fraser's Hill. But i've never explored this capital city of Malaysia.
Tales abound of the throbbing nightlife, good and cheap food, and of natural attractions we Singaporeans can only dream of. So, with a 2 week break before i start on my new job, my newly ex-colleagues, Joab, Regina, and i decided to explore ths vibrant city.
We took the first ever budget airline in South East Asia (and our first budget flight) from Johor Baru to Kuala Lumpur (picture).
We had pre-planned to visit the Petronas Twin Towers, Menara KL, the Bird Park, as well as try to get as much shopping in as possible. We intended to visit Mid-Valley Megamall, Suria KLCC and the stretch near our hotel, Bukit Bintang. Some other possible sites included Kampong Selangor/Kuantan (where there were fireflies), and also Sunway Lagoon, IF we had the time and extra cash.

1 of Malaysia's attractions - VARIETY OF FOOD!

With Malaysia being a melting pot of rpeople, races and religion, it is indeed a fantastic place to sample a wide variety of food. From Asian like Chinese, Malay, Thai, to European and American styles, world class restaurants can be found in every corner, and if price is a major factor, like for us, street fare is just as unique.
Of course, being in Malaysia, one simply HAS to try the Straits Chinese' food, a fusion of Malay and Chinese styles which is uniqe to this area.

Pros:"Good/Cheap food, variety of public transport, great sites to visit."
Cons:"Traffic, the HAZE,"
In A Nutshell:"What SIngapore could be like, if we had the land!"
