  • Restaurant Name: El Waha

El Waha is one of several restaurants with a terrace and a panoramic view over Djemaa el Fna. It is, in my opinion, the best value one. Both the tajine and couscous here are good. They also serve kebabs and omelettes.

Expect to pay betweeen 20Dh and 40Dh per person.

    Opening hours: 7am-11pm

  • Restaurant Name: Nid Cigogne

Nid Cigogne, or stork's nest, restaurant does in fact look directly across at a stork on her nest. It is a very nice place to relax after a long day's sightseeing. A meal with soup and chicken tajine cost DH50.

  • Restaurant Name: Djemaa el Fna food stalls

There are many food stalls in Djemaa el Fna, and every visitor should try to eat there at least once. It is part of the Marrakech experience. The food is cheap - usually DH30 for a main dish, such as tajine or couscous- but not especially good. The vendors tend to use the cheapest possible ingredients and as little meat as possible. I had a pastilla (pigeon pie) here, which had no more than a teaspoonful of pigeon in it. It was nearly all pastry. Nevertheless it was a fun place to sit.

  • Restaurant Name: Les Terrasses de l'Alhambra

This French-run restaurant is one of the classiest of those with a view of Djemaa el-Fna. Coffee, tea and ice cream are served on the ground floor and there is a proper restaurant on the first-floor terrace with a menu based around salads, pizzas and pasta, accompanied by freshly squeezed fruit juices. The interior is air-conditioned.
