Welcome to my little corner of VT!

by leebee1 - last update: Jun 8, 2006

Its always going to be a work in progress...

For those of you who have kept an eye on my pages since the beginning, you'll notice that I'm getting better :)
One thing that I am guilty of during my travels, is NOT journelling! This kinda makes tips a little hard not having directions, and sometimes not even having names of the various restaurants and nightclubs that I have frequented. I used to just use my photos as my journal, and have since learnt from my mistakes. In more recent trips I have started writing down things I think may be helpful and of use to include on my pages.
*Note to self* journal as you go!

You will also notice in the content of my pages that there are alot of tip headings with the text stating "a work in progress". Whilst I recognise this can be an annoyance, there is a reason for it. 2 words...DIAL UP!

For those few of you who still have only dial up internet, I feel for you, I really do. It takes literally hours, to upload 1 photo!!! Hence the reason I go through my photo album, add in all the titles that I want to write about, then go back to fill in the text, research address and prices if necesary. Then and only then, do I begin the painstaking task of uploading the pictures.

BUT THERE IS HOPE!
Hopefully in the not to distant future, I will upgrade into the wonderful world of cable...(fingers crossed)......

Whilst visiting my pages dont forget to leave your mark. All feedback is greatly appreciated and helps me to make my pages even better. If you think a tip is worthy, rate it, if not let me know why you disagree...
Meet Cassi!

My passion for travel...

Getting time off work to travel, can be a challenge in itself. However, my goal is to take 1 interstate, and 1 overseas trip per year.
My last trip was to Fiji in April/May 2006.
Since I made my first trip overseas, I've become an addict. Like most addicts, it means I'm constantly broke!!!
I love to travel to places with different customs and cultures and try to do as they do. In particular I'd love to see more of Asia, and if I can save enough, I'd love to do Italy, Greece, Spain. I get a buzz out of trying different foods, hanging out where the locals hang out, and facing my fears head on (well, some of them...)
Since I've started travelling I've learnt so much not only about myself but the world. Languages, Geography, History etc.
I once heard the saying "Life is like a book, unitl you've travelled you've only read one page."
To that I say...Here, Here!

The things that I love!

Most of the things that I love are the simplest things...I love that I live between the Mountains and the Sea. Its something I never take for granted. I love the smell of the ocean, or the smell after it rains. I still love watching my cats antics. Shes 6 now, and the novelties never worn off. I love taking pictures, and compilling them into albums. (even though im not the best photographer in the world). I love drinking tea, and bourbon for that matter. lol! I love reading the Sunday paper, and feel lost if I miss it. I love to read a good book. I cant live without moistoriser and mascara. I love watching Rugby League (go the Bulldogs!) And if you take me away from the warm weather for long enough, Im certain I would die...

THE THINGS I MISS MOST WHILST I'M AWAY!
Keith (my boy) and Cassi (my cat). I try to get in as much time with them before I leave, call as often as I can while I'm away, and can't wait to see them when I arrive back. My number 1 goal is to tear Keith away from his other commitments long enough to see why I am so obssessed with travel...
North Wollongong Beach, NSW
Me swimming with dolphins!

Dolphins...

I've always had a fascination and love for dolphins. Like most little girls, I toyed with the idea of becoming a Marine Biologist, not that I had any idea what that would entail. I just wanted to be closer to these wonderful creatures. Instead, I went on to become a Veterinary Nurse. You can imagine my delight when I realised I got to go swimming with the dolphins as part of my training. This was one of the greatest moments of my life to date. A great book to read is one called "The dolphin within" by Olivia De Bergerac. Its a fascinating and insightful read about the healing benefits of dolphins.
Needless to say my whole house is decked out with dolphins!

Sunset...

Sunset is my favourite time of day. I love seeing the sky ablaze with reds and pinks and purples. I've spent hours trying to figure all the settings on my new digital camera to get the perfect pics. I particularly love the sun setting over the ocean. Living on the east coast of Australia where the sun rises over the water, its an added bonus during my travels if I get to see it set over the water!
Kuta Beach, Bali

I'm totally phobic of...

BRIDGES! especially bridges over water. I hear this actually has a "term name". I will have to look it up...Driving over bridges is not so bad if I can get in the middle lane, and concentrate straight ahead. Walking over bridges, even jettys, sends me into a panic. Its funny how many tourist spots are actually bridges. This is a fear I have yet to conquer. One funny moment I will never forget was when I was in Phuket and went on the sea kyaking tour. We had to walk along this long jetty to get into a long boat, which would take us out to the big boat we would do our tour on. I was kinda at the front of the group walking on this jetty, and everyone was winging about how I should have worn shoes cause I was holding everyone up. If only they knew, my heart was going 100 thousand times its usual speed, my hands were clammy, my mouth was dry, and I was feeling quite faint. I definately need to work on this one...

IM MARRIED!!!

My new husband and I were married in Fiji on 22nd April 2006!

We are loving married life :)

Dont forget to check out our wedding pictures in our Fiji travelogues.
