Excellent Tex-Mex and other Denton, TX Restaurant Reviews

Restaurant Name: Tia's

This is a franchise restuarant in the metroplex. However, I have heard that the one located in Denton is the best one out of all of them. They serve up the regular Tex-Mex menu with fajitas, echiladas, quesadillas, etc. Of course, you can always enjoy this with a nice margarita!!!

Restaurant Name: Mazatlan

Mazatlan is a cozy little place on US 380 on the East side of Denton across the street from Two Brothers.
It is at the corner of US 380 and Ruddell. A basic Tex-Mex menu that is very reasonably priced and well done. The menu includes the usual enchiladas, tacos, and various combo plates as well as standard fajitas and the like as well as carne asada and carne guisada.

Directions: After the intersection between University and S. Carroll, go down University a few miles (University=Highway 380), it will be on your right, next to a bowling alley.

Restaurant Name: Trail Dust Steak House

This is the original restuarant in the Traildust franchise. For those unfamiliar with the concept, this is a real Texas style steak house. The waiters/waitresses wear western wear, there's a dance floor for two-stepping, you throw the peanut shells on the floor, and you're not allowed to be dressed up. As a matter of a fact, if you happen to wear a tie, the will bring in a big cow bell and a big pair of sissors. They will cut the tie of you while making as much noise as they can. The tie will then be hung on the wall (with your business card attached, if you so desire) together with hundreds of other ties.

Favorite Dish: Steak, steak, steak. For those of you who have never tried Chicken Fried Steak, this will be the best place to do it!! (Don't make a habit out of eating it though...your arteries will probably not appreciate that...!)

Directions: Denton Crossing Mall is located on Loop 288, right across the street from Wal-Mart. Chipotle is located behind Best Buy.

Restaurant Name: Denton County Independent Hamburger Co.

This venerable establishment, with the original on the square, and a new branch on Sunset serves up tasty burgers and delicious home cut fries and red beans. It is rated the best burger place in the area by most locals.

Restaurant Name: Cracker Barrel

The Cracker Barrel is a chain of restaurants that line our nations interstates. They have standard bacon, eggs, coffee, biscuits, and gravy fare that is usually very good. The sappy stuff in the waiting area/gift shop usually is avoidable, though you might find something for Uncle Joe Bob there...anyway, this joint just off the Interstate at Highway 380 is a good place to fill up the gullet if you're hungry. They also serve lunch and dinner, and actually the food is very good then too!...
