Quicentro: American Style Shopping Mall (1)

Name of Shop: Quicentro
Once you walk in this mall you might as well think that you are back in the US. It has everything that you might want, however, be aware, some of the items are even more expensive than they would be in the US (for example, they sell DVDs for $50!!!).
What To Buy: Essentially, this is a place to go to look for really nice clothes or to buy a new camera....etc...not a tourist place per say...but you can find a lot of things you might need.

Mercado Artesanal Mariscal: Indigeous Art in the Middle of the City

Name of Shop: Mercado Artesanal Mariscal
Forgot to get some stuff when you visited Otavalo??? Do not worry, this market has most things you can get in Otavalo. It might be a little pricier than Otavalo, but you will be able to find most things you need...and of course the opportunity to get a piercing or two!
What To Buy: Local articrafts, t-shirts, and anything else you can think off.
What To Pay: Expect to pay a little bit more than you would in Otavalo.

Tatoo Adventure Gear: Good Selection of Outdoor Gear

Name of Shop: Tatoo Adventure Gear
This is the only place in Quito where I could find Nalgene bottles! Other than that, it sees to have a small but high quality selection of outdoor gear. Comparable (however smaller), to US stores such as REI and EMS.
What To Pay: Expect the prices to be the same as in the US or a little steeper

In the park El Ejido: Outdoor Indigenous Craft Market
|
Tip Rating: |
 |
|
|
|
|
|
Name of Shop: In the park El Ejido
Most weekends, and also some week days, there is a rather large selection of local crafts sold in stalls in the northern part of the park El Ejido. Around the outskirts of the park there is usually also a rather extensive sale of large paintings. Makes for quite a nice stroll in the park on a late morning. Remember, it usually rains in the afternoon, so head up there before that. A good time to bargain a price is right before the late afternoon rains come....
What To Buy: Local crafts, amazing art work, t-shirts,...etc. However, buy post cards in one of the stores in Mariscal, they seem to be very overprice in the park...
