Home Sweet Home!

I love New Orleans!! This is my home--my real home! My parents both grew up in the state and we lived in N'awlins until I was 8 years old. I have wonderful memories of the city! I've only been back 2 or 3 times since we moved 12 years ago. My last visit was over Christmas this past year, which was incredible! I miss Christmas in N.O.!! So many memories....this was the first time my family celebrated Christmas in our "real" home for over a decade, so it was...WOW! And it was definitely warmer than Iowa was at the same time! :-) So I had hoped to improve my New Orleans page right away but it has taken longer than expected. From that last trip to New Orleans, I left directly from N.O. to fly to Sierra Leone--so two trips back to back--so much to update!

Memories...

Growing up in New Orleans, I have many memories as a child of the city. The Riverwalk has always been one of my favorites. It's a shopping complex up the river from the French Quarter. It's next to Jax Brewery. It was built in 1984 to host the World's Fair that year. It has several shops that have some local flavor, including: a Mardi Gras costume shop, the Fudgery(a must-you have to watch them make the fudge, which has always been more of a show than cooking), a mask shop, and several other kinds of stores. It's fun just to walk thru the building.
