Crowne Plaza Darling Harbour: Great central location
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • The Crowne Plaza Darling Harbour was within walking distance to the very touristy, Darling Harbour, Chinatown, and Botanical Gardens. So there's a lot to see and do without having to worry about transportation. It was also a short and inexpensive ferry ride away from the other must see tourist spot, the Rocks, close to the the Sydney Opera House (but you can actually walk it if you're willing for about 20-25 minutes).

Right across the street is a 24-hour convenience store where you can load up on drinks and snacks so you don't have to pay for the mini-bar. That store also has internet access for $2/hour.

Besides location, the Concierge service was AWESOME, very helpful, and full of information. The whole staff was cool.

Unique Qualities: Never used the facilites, but the hotel did have a gym, but not sure about a pool. Lots of construction going on, so the view is obscured by contruction equipment, but what it lacks in views, it more than makes up for in customer service and location.

Also, this hotel looks like it's used by a lot of business people, so if you're allergic to suits and tie, then this place may not be for you because you'll see a lot of "business types," but my friends and I went in, backpack, jeans and all, and no one blinked an eye or gave us a disapproving look.

Directions: Darling Harbour area, but there's a lot of construction going on because a huge project is underway to alleviate some Sydney traffic. I believe they're building a tunnel (?).

Glad you loved our gr8 city, news to me you can only go down on the scenic rail, we used to travel up after walking from 3 sisters, it was more scary when the seats were flat , now they are tilted back

Are you sure it isn't all that Aussie bad language that is turning the air blue ?!? ;-))) Good luck on the job front by the way.
