Kalkara is in the Southern Malta of Malta adjacent to Vittoriosa and to Zabbar. If you look at a map of Malta you can find it quickly !

As you can see even in Kalkara one can find bastions in order to have more protection! Today some of the walls are being destroyed - which to me is a real pity !

In Kalkara one can find Kalkara Bay which is one of the Southern creeks that form part of the Southern area. Infact as I had said previously when introducing Malta - Malta has many inlets forming creeks and bays. Where it is rocky a creek is formed and where the rock is less rocky it forms a bay thus creating some beaches and bay to have sand. Some bays even though they are bays may not have as much sand as others.

Today Kalkara is growing larger as many old town houses are being pulled down in order to tall but pokey flats ! Unfortunitly in Malta it seems that there is no control on protecting old town houses and people prefer to live in flats as life has become faster and there is not much time for maintenance and for the upkeep of a house.
