Marsaxlokk - A quiet small Fishing Village Marsaxlokk is a small fishing village in one of Malta's South inlets. The village is quite laid back with no night life and a few shops here and there. Here you can buy souvenirs, eat at some of Malta's best fish restaurants, go for nice walks and visit the market on Sunday mornings. Here you can buy souvenirs and Maltese lace too.
Here one can literally see the fishermen work and untangle their nets. One can also buy shrimps to go fishing from a few locals of Marsaxlokk. I will post a few photos of the houses one can buy shrimps from.
Apparantly in one of the films of Roger Moore, Marsaxlokk featured in the film as it once was during the sixties even though I don't think it changed as much as St Julians did or other places in Malta. |
| | Fishermen with nets This is a photo of the fishermen on their boats with their nets. The boats are called 'Luzzu' in Maltese and they are very colourful as you can see.
Marsaxlokk was part of Zejtun in the past. Very close by to Marsaxlokk there is Delimara where there is Malta's only power station (I think) This is a very nice area - I will try to post some photos here. |
Parish Church of Marsaxlokk This is one of the most beaustiful churches in my opinion even though I have never been inside but its really nice because it has this square infront of it with some restuarants at the side - very picturesque ! | | | Parish Church of Marsaxlokk |
